Darcy Holloway Earns Prestigious Academic Award at Illinois College

Darcy Holloway of Springfield was among the students recognized April 27 when the liberal arts college held its annual Celebration of Excellence, a daylong celebration that allowed students and faculty to take part in activities that commend academic excellence, a hallmark of the college since its founding in 1829.

Holloway, a graduate, was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa . awarded the Julian M. Sturtevant Campus Leadership and Service Award, and the Tom Mussatto Memorial Award for Professional Excellence in Teaching and Learning. Phi Beta Kappa is the nation's oldest and most prestigious honorary college society. It recognizes the highest scholastic distinction by electing members from among the leading candidates for college degrees in the liberal arts and sciences. The Julian M. Sturtveant Campus Leadership and Service Award is awarded to outstanding graduating seniors who are visible leaders on campus and in the organization(s) they serve. The Tom Mussatto Memorial Award for Professional Excellence in Teaching and Learning is awarded to a teacher candidate in the Illinois College Teacher Preparation Program.

Holloway, a graduate of Rochester High School, is the daughter of Christopher and Nancy Holloway of Springfield.
