Jasper Brown Earns Prestigious Academic Award at Illinois College

Jasper Brown of Canton was among the students recognized April 27 when the liberal arts college held its annual Celebration of Excellence, a daylong celebration that allowed students and faculty to take part in activities that commend academic excellence, a hallmark of the college since its founding in 1829.

Brown, a sophomore, was awarded the James A. Meeks Memorial Scholarship, the ASA Departmental Prize in Sociology, and inducted into Alpha Kappa Delta. James A. Meeks Memorial Scholarship is awarded to outstanding junior major in the department. ASA Departmental Prize in Sociology is awarded to a student in sociology who has done particularly well on a paper, thesis, field study or performed special service to the department. Alpha Kappa Delta is the sociology national honor society.

Brown, a graduate of Canton High School, is the son of Lorraine Farr of Canton.
