Scott Gnuse Earns Prestigious Academic Award at Illinois College

Scott Gnuse of Springfield was among the students recognized April 27 when the liberal arts college held its annual Celebration of Excellence, a daylong celebration that allowed students and faculty to take part in activities that commend academic excellence, a hallmark of the college since its founding in 1829.

Gnuse, a graduate, was awarded the Fred C. Kirkman Award in History, the Joe Patterson Smith Memorial Scholarship, and inducted into Theta Alpha Kappa. The Fred C. Kirkman Award in History is awarded for the best written work in history. The Joe Patterson Smith Memorial Scholarship is awarded to an outstanding senior major(s) in the department. Theta Alpha Kappa is the religion national honor society.

Gnuse, a graduate of Pleasant Plains High School, is the son of Steve and Linda Gnuse of Springfield.
