Sonya Boykin named to Executive Board for Black Student Union

Sonya Boykin of Chicago has been named the secretary for the Black Student Union. Boykin is a graduate of Lane Technical High School and is a sophomore at Illinois College.

The Black Student Union (BSU) is an organization geared to educate and provide programs to all Illinois College students about the history and culture of African-Americans. This group will provide education through various programs and community service projects at Illinois College and within the Jacksonville community. The BSU also has an affiliation with the Jacksonville chapter of the N.A.A.C.P.

Founded in 1829, Illinois College is a residential liberal arts college fostering academic excellence rooted in opportunities for experiential learning while preparing students for lifelong success.
